The District at Tapawingo will provide much-needed quality housing for families and individuals who want to live in and experience downtown. It will also provide a new space for people to gather with ground floor experiences and public infrastructure improvements. The District is a gateway, develops a large, vacant site and creates connections between Tapawingo Park and downtown.

Yes, The District will be built in phases. The first phase will include the two buildings on River Road between Wood Street and Tapawingo. All the roads – Wood Street extension, Roebuck, Street B, and Steet E – will also be built in the first phase. Additional buildings will be built in the future.

Construction on the infrastructure and new roads will begin in April 2026. Any work associated with the Riverbend apartments will not begin until August 2026, after the August 2025 – July 2026 leases complete.

A traffic study by a local independent consultant has been conducted for The District at Tapawingo and is being coordinated with the City. Final traffic movements will be determined to minimize traffic impact.

Yes, the land occupied by Riverbend is included in The District. All current and future leases for August 2025 – July 2026 at Riverbend will be honored. Riverbend will not be leased beyond August 2026.
